What is Mixed Reality

?

"Mixed reality (MR), sometimes referred to as hybrid reality, is the merging of real and virtual worlds to produce new environments and visualizations where physical and digital objects co-exist and interact in real time. Mixed reality takes place not only in the physical world or the virtual world, but is a mix of reality and virtual reality, encompassing both augmented reality and augmented virtuality." --Wikipedia

(1) How might this technology be relevant to the educational sector you know best?

  • I think it is far more relevant than virtual reality, particularly to teens. MR can provide opportunity to explore and create more freely, by eliminating or bypassing the barriers of the "real" world. It also has the potential to enhance communication and connection between individuals, allowing for higher levels of self-revelation and the ability to show more of how the world looks through one's individual lens. - andersonb andersonb Jun 4, 2016
